Wildwood Nursery was founded in 2018 with the first sales of Avocado trees, since those first trees there has been huge expansion in infrastructure as the site prepares to expand its nursery production into other areas of sales.

Duncan grew up in the horticultural and agricultural sector with his grandfather and father well established in the Cape of South Africa growing wine, table grapes, flowers, and dairy cattle. His father, mother and siblings all moved out to Australia in 1984 establishing Protea Pride in Busselton Western Australia, still providing cut flowers throughout Australia and the World today.

There are now four generations of the Wood family involved in horticulture with son Alistair joining the family business.

Nubloom

The company is a sister company to Nubloom Pty Ltd, founded in 2009 by Duncan and Joanne Wood, a successful cut flower business dealing in natives, protea, and other imported South African varieties. Duncan and Joanne branched out on their own from the family cut flower business Protea Pride, establishing their brand in the local, interstate, and international market exporting to Japan and China.

Technology

Wildwood Nursery uses Smart Farming Technology to run its Green Houses we have a policy of reducing our carbon footprint and single use plastics where possible. Our site uses Smart farming to minimises the use of water on the Nursery with the irrigation being controlled by sensors. We have also been doing trials with the Ellebag – a breathable degradable growing bag that air prunes roots and removes the requirement for single use plastic.

Certification

We are certified in both NIASA (Nursery Industry Accreditation Scheme, Australia) and ANVAS (Avocado Nursery Voluntary Accreditation Scheme) – receiving our accreditation in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
